RC soars to 98-51 win over Warren Wilson

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team had multiple players set new season and career highs as they soared to a 98-51 victory over Warren Wilson.

How It Happened 

  • RC came out strong in the first quarter, shooting 67% and 50% from three to make it 29-12 by the end of the period. 

  • It was much of the same from there out as the Maroons shot in the 60% range in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach for Warren Wilson. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Freshman Laila Staples picked up her first career double-double after tallying 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Her point total tied her career high, and she set a new career mark with her rebound total. 

  • Freshman Cecilia Robinson tallied a career high with her team leading 13 rebounds in the contest. She also added eight points to tie her career mark. 

  • Ashley Fowler led the Maroons in points with her season high of 21. Fowler also had eight rebounds to her name. 

  • Abigail Rice was the other Roanoke player to hit double digit points in the game with a season high 13 points. 

  • Mariah Cain dished out a team leading six assists, a new season high and just one shy of her career high. 

  • Nadia Snesarev followed that up with four helpers while Moriah Tate and Fowler were right behind with three assists each. 

  • Every Maroon that was available to play saw at least 10 minutes of play on the afternoon.

With their non-conference slate finished, RC turns to ODAC play as they square-off with Bridgewater on Wednesday (Jan. 7) at 5:30pm in Salem.
