The Short story: Three different Maroons scored Friday night as the Roanoke College women's soccer team handed Greensboro College its first loss of the 2025 season, 3-0, in non-conference play.


How it happened:
*The Maroons earned a corner kick with 10 minutes left in the first half. An initial shot was blocked by a Methodist defender but Irene Orndorff collected the rebound and drilled a left-footed shot into the lower right corner of the net.
*RC held the 1-0 lead into halftime, outshooting the Pride 12-0 in the game's first 45 minutes.
*Rebecca Carr intercepted an attempted Greensboro clear and blasted a shot past the GC keeper at 55:15.
*Lauren Fisher headed in a corner kick from Brooke Nicholson less than two minutes later to give Roanoke a three-goal lead.   

Inside the numbers:
*Roanoke outshot the Pride 20-2 on the night.
*Fisher had a match-high five shots, two on net.
*RC held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
*Shyann Hansen made three saves for Greensboro (3-1-1).
