SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College field hockey squad fell in their first game of 2025 to the University of Mary Washington Eagles.

How It Happened 

• The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and the Maroons couldn't find an answer. 

• The Maroons picked it up offensively in the second half, scoring on a Corinne Orlando goal in the fourth, but were unable to significantly cut the deficit. 

Notes and Notables 

• Freshman Corinne Orlando's goal was the first of her Roanoke career. 

• Sophie Baker and Grayson Raiford each registered defensive saves in the contest. 
   
• Baker, Orlando, Kaitlyn Robertson, Ellemijn van Wijk, Brooke Garcia, and Chloe Miller each made this first career appearnace for RC.

• The sides were even in penalty corners at six each. RC recorded more corners than UMW in the third totaling four to their two. 

• Megan Keller and Chloe Miller both saw time in goal with Keller making five stops and Miller making two. 

Up Next 
RC has the week off before they head to Pennsylvania to take on Alleghany College on Saturday (Sep. 6) and Concordia University (Wis.) on Sunday (Sep. 7). Both games are scheduled to take place at 11:00 am.
