The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team dropped a pair of low scoring Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) games Saturday against visiting Bridgewater College. The program's eight seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day.
The Maroons got a pair of outstanding pitching performances on the afternoon from seniors
Lindsay Gedro and
Maggie McCray.
How it happened (Game 1):
*Roanoke had its best opportunity to score in the first inning with two runners on and one out, but couldn't convert.
*Bridgewater broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the fourth.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Gedro tossed a complete game for Roanoke, allowing just one earned run.
*Mackenzie Cauthorn had a complete-game shutout for the Eagles, giving up just two hits and two walks.

Aniyah Blake and
Molly Epperson had hits for Roanoke.
How it happened (Game 2):
*The Eagles scored their run in the sixth on a triple.
*Roanoke had two runners on with two outs in the bottom half of the sixth but left fielder Kaelyn Ramsey made a diving catch on a line drive from
Allie Bell.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*McCray struck out 12 in her seven innings on the circle, scattering seven hits and one walk, and also had a single at the plate.

Haleigh Vaughan had two hits and a walk.
*Kylie Jones and Evelyn Rhoads combined on a four-hit shutout for Bridgewater (19-9/9-1 ODAC).
*The Maroons left nine runners on base, and had runners on in each inning but the fifth.
