Maroons take down Eastern Mennonite on Senior Day

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team advanced to 8-1 in ODAC play as they took down Eastern Mennonite 23-4 on Senior Day.

How It Happened 

  • The Maroons came out firing, working their way to an 11-1 advantage by the end of the period. 

  • Eastern Mennonite adjusted a bit in the second, but Roanoke kept it going with a 5-2 scoring advantage to make it 16-3 before the half. 

  • It was a similar story in the second half as RC outscored the Royals 7-1 to make the score its final. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Senior Sydney Harrison became the program's all-time games played leader as she hit 78 career appearances with her start. The midfielder broke Lilly Blair's '23 record of 77. 

  • Maddie McDonald led all Roanoke scorers yet again as she tallied six goals in the game. 

  • Raegan Becker was the next closest scorer with three goals. Becker also tallied an assist to bring her point total to four. 

  • Grace Koutouzis recorded two goals and three assists for five points. Her three helpers moved her up to second in career assists in the program record book, surpassing Gina Valles '11. Koutouzis' total now sits at 133 career assists. 

  • Zoe Blair, Ryan Tinervin, and Harrison all had multi-point games. Blair tallied a goal and two assists, while Tinervin and Harrison both had a goal and an assist. 

  • Defender Keely Dent recorded her first goal of the season and the fourth of her career. 

  • Amber Stallings and Kendall Todd split time in goal as Stallings picked up the win and Todd recorded the only save for the Maroons. 

  • Roanoke led in shots, 48-12, ground balls 20-8, and draw controls 20-8 in the contest.
