Maroons come up short against Shenandoah

PULASKI, Va. - The Roanoke College baseball team came up just short of taking a split with Shenandoah in ODAC play on Saturday. 
 
Game 1 Information 
Shenandoah 12, Roanoke 4 
Records: Shenandoah (22-12, 12-6), Roanoke (18-15-1, 10-7-1) 
Location: Pulaski, Va. (Calfee Field) 

Game 1 Notes and Notables 

  • After going down early, Roanoke was able to bring it back to within one quickly. However, SU put up more runs in the second half of the game that RC were unable to find a response for. 

  • It was a slug fest in the early innings with five total home runs being hit between the sides. Three of those homers were hit by the Maroons. 

  • Parker Stallard had the first multi-homer game of his Roanoke career, with his two long balls in back-to-back at-bats. 

  • Liam Murphy accounted for the other two RC RBIs with his home run in the second.

Game 2 Notes and Notables 

  • Roanoke started the game hot, going up 4-0 through the first three innings. The sides then exchanged runs in the middle innings before Shenandoah opened it up in the seventh to take the lead. The Maroons were able to grab one back in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to push another man across. 

  • Moshier roped a triple and a home run in the game. The sophomore now has four long balls on the year. 

  • Mason Roy turned in a solid performance in his fourth start of the year. He allowed just three runs over five innings of work and struck out one. 

Up Next 
The Maroons enter their last week of regular season play next week, kicking it off with a home ODAC game against Guilford on Tuesday (Apr. 22). First pitch is slated for 4:00 pm at Salem Memorial Ballpark.
