How It Happened

  • After jumping ahead 2-0 in the first, Roanoke laid it on in the second and third innings. Taking advantage of runners on base and getting some help from the long ball, RC took an 11-0 lead.

  • The entire order continued to produce in the fifth inning as the Maroons tacked on five more runs.

  • Greensboro was able to get a few back in the fifth and seventh innings but it wasn't enough, and Roanoke had done enough to invoke the mercy rule to end the game after seven innings.

Notes and Notables

  • Hayden Giordano got the nod on the mound to start the game after making solid relief appearances the past few weeks. In the first start of his career, he posted three strikeouts and allowed just two baserunners in three innings of work.

  • Kyle Moshier went a perfect 5-5 on the evening, tallying five RBIs, four runs, and two stolen bases to pace the RC offensively. His hit total is a new single game career high for the sophomore.

  • Moshier also slugged a two-run shot in the second inning to record his second homer of the season.

  • Giordano helped himself out in the second inning as he also went yard with a two-run homer. The long ball was his fourth of the year.

  • Corey Coogan joined Moshier and Giordano in having a multi-RBI game as he added two to the total on a hit and a walk.

  • Danny Ferguson and Parker Stallard each had multi-hit days with two each. Both players also recorded an RBI while Ferguson accounted for three runs and Stallard two in the game.

  • Cody Petrauskas recorded the first RBI of his career with his two walks.

  • Conner Spears snagged the first win of his career after pitching an inning and recording a strikeout.
  • Liam Murphy and Nate Prince accounted for the other two RC RBIs.
