Women's lacrosse rounds out week in Tennessee with win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team returned to the win column as they snatched a 16-5 road victory over Rhodes College on Saturday.

How It Happened 

  • After Rhodes scored the opening goal, Roanoke went on an eight-goal run spanning the first two quarters. 

  • The squads went into halftime with RC up 9-3 after Rhodes broke up the scoring run with less than four minutes left in the quarter. 

  • The Maroons kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, outscoring Rhodes 5-1 in the period. 

  • Zoe Blair added two tallies in the fourth and Rhodes recorded one to make the score final. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Zoe Blair and Grace Koutouzis topped the squad with four goals and two assists each for six points. Blair only needed five shots to record her goal tally. 

  • Raegan Becker also hit the hat trick mark with her three goals in the game. 

  • Sarah Brisson rounded out the multi-point scorers with her three points on two goals and an assist. 

  • Sydney Harrison racked up a team high four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Her CTO mark matched a career high for the senior. 

  • Brooke Morrow was right behind Harrison in ground balls with three. 

  • RC had the advantage in shots, 32-18, and groundballs 22-14, while Rhodes had the upper hand in draw controls, 14-11.

The Maroons round out their season opoening road trip on Wednesday (Mar. 12) when they travel to the USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. for a neutral site matchup with #15/#11 Ithaca at 1:00 pm.
