Roanoke keeps rolling, picking up two more wins on Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Roanoke College men's volleyball squad improved to 3-0 on the week and 16-7 overall as they picked up two wins in their Saturday tri-match. 

Game 1 Information  
Roanoke 3, Lynchburg 1 
Records: Roanoke (15-7, 5-1), Lynchburg (8-9,2-5) 
Location: Lynchburg, Va. (Turner Gymnasium) 

Game 1 Notes and Notables 

  • After dropping a close first set (22-25), Roanoke came back to win the next three (25-23, 25-20, 25-13) to take the ODAC matchup. 

  • Jackson Rutkowski led the squad with 14 kills while hitting .478. Cade Kinne was close behind with 13 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. 

  • Michael Cummins also hit double digit kills with 11. 

  • Teagan Cole took a majority of the setting duties, racking up 27 assists. 

  • Cummins posted a season high four service aces. He also topped the team in digs with seven.

  • Colin Mendoza led the squad with six blocks on two solo blocks and four block assists.

Records: Roanoke (16-7, 5-1), Bethany (1-12, 0-6) 

Game 2 Notes and Notables 

  • Roanoke started their second game of the day hot, taking the first set 25-6. They kept rolling in the next two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-19 to grab another victory. 

  • Todd Sager had a career high four blocks in the match. 

  • Michael Cummins continued to serve well in the second match, tallying four more service aces.  

  • Fabbro also set a career mark in service aces with three in the game.
