Maggie McCray broke her own school record for strikeouts in a game with 17 Sunday as the Roanoke College softball team split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader with Randolph College.
McCray struck out 15 batters on March 4 against the University of Mary Washington to claim the school record for strikeouts in a game, which stood for less than a month.
How it happened (Game 1):
*McCray recorded her first seven outs via strikeout and struck out three batters in the first, second and fourth frames and two each in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
*The Maroons loaded the bases in the fourth and pushed across the game's first run on a
Molly Epperson groundout.
*RC provided McCray more cushion than she'd need with a four-run fifth inning. The big blow was a
Jocelyne Rinker three-run double.

Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*McCray allowed just two hits and two walks with up her record to 7-3 on the season and notch the second shutout of the year.

Samantha Rice each had two hits.
