The Short Story: Amherst College, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division III this week, defeated the Roanoke College men's lacrosse team 17-9 Saturday in non-conference action.
How it happened:
*The Mammoths opened a 4-1 lead after one period,
Julian Kammerman found the back of the net for RC.
*Roanoke cut the lead to 5-3 in the second after tallies from
Wyatt Whitlow and
Luca Docking. Amherst answered with five-straight goals before
Patrick Cullen ended the run and AC led 10-4 at the half.
*Amherst scored three of the first four goals of the third period to take a 13-5 lead but goals by Whitlow and Cullen made the score 13-7 heading into the fourth.
*Amherst scored the first three goals of the fourth.

Luke Kammerman finished with three goals and an assist for Roanoke.
*Cullen and Whitlow each scored twice and Docking posted a goal and two assists.
