Maroons cruise past Ferrum in midweek contest

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team secured another ODAC victory as they cruised past Ferrum in a 22-1 win.

How It Happened 

  • For the second straight game, Roanoke took a big lead in the first quarter. This time the squad made it 12-0 by the end of the first.  

  • After exchanging goals to start the second, RC continued to dominate. They went on to score nine unanswered goals to make it a 22-1 victory. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Maddie McDonald led in goals with four and added an assist to record five points on the night. 

  • Grace Koutouzis topped the squad in points with her two goals and five assists for seven points. The senior tied her career high assists total which she set earlier this season at St. Mary's College of Maryland. 

  • It was Leith's first multi-goal game of her young career. 

  • Elyse Cosgrave tallied her first goal of the season and the seventh of her career. 

  • Sydney Harrison was one shy of her career single game mark in draw controls with her team leading five in the game. 

  • Sophomore defender Liza Fergusson recorded the final goal of the game which was the first of her career. 

  • Amber Stallings got her first start of the season between the pipes for RC. She made two saves in her 30 minutes of work. 

  • Freshman Maddi Barnhorst took over in goal for the second half. She did not have to make a save in the appearance. 

  • RC had the upper hand in shots, 40-3, ground balls, 17-5, and draw controls, 20-4.

Roanoke hits the road this weekend as they travel to Randolph-Macon on Saturday (Mar. 29) for a 1:00 pm ODAC showdown.
