GREENWOOD, Ind. - Sophomores Abigail Rice and Ashley Fowler of the Roanoke College women's basketball team were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 or above cumulative GPA and play in 90% or start in 66% of their team's contests.
Rice takes home the honor after accumulating a 3.81 GPA as a Criminal Justice and Political Science double major. The guard played in every game this season for the Maroons as a key player off the bench. Rice was second on the team in field goal percentage this season at 41.4%.
Fowler, a Business Administration major, snags the award with her cumulative GPA of 3.96 between her time at her previous institution and Roanoke. The North Carolina native quickly became a staple of the RC lineup during her first year in Salem, starting 25 of the 26 games she appeared in. Fowler was second on the team in free throw percentage at 82.6% and third in rebounds in 2024-25.
