Lindsay Gedro tossed a no-hitter in game one Saturday as the Roanoke College softball team swept its third-straight doubleheader, 9-0 and 12-0 against visiting Pitt-Bradford - both in five innings.
Maggie McCray struck out 13 batters in game two and the Maroons scored 20 combined runs in the second inning, nine in the opener and 11 in the second contest. The Maroons have won six-straight games and are now 8-4 on the year.
How it happened (Game 1):
*Roanoke opened the scoring in the second with a two-run single from
Haleigh Vaughan.
Samantha Rice and
Molly Epperson each had RBI singles,
Madison Cooke ripped a run scoring double and Vaughan capped the scoring with a single. Two runs also scored on ground balls. Â
Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Gedro struck out four with no walks, one error kept her from a perfect game.
*Cooke and Vaughan each had two hits. Â
How it happened (Game 2):
*Two triples were the big blows in the second frame.
Kassidy Lancos drove in two with her triple and
Carsyn Michaels hit a three-run triple.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*McCray allowed a single to the first batter of the game but didn't allow another runner to earn her fourth win of the season.
*Lancos, Cooke, Rice and Michaels each had two hits.

Allie Bell had three RBI.
