Baseball overcome by Randolph-Macon in double header

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College baseball team couldn't find a way to best the RV Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in their weekend ODAC doubleheader. 
 
Game 1 Information 
RV Randolph-Macon 6, Roanoke 3 
Records: Randolph-Macon (7-5, 3-2), Roanoke (8-8-1, 1-1-1) 
Location: Salem, Va. (Salem Memorial Ballpark) 

Game 1 Notes and Notables 

  • Roanoke scored first before RMC took a 3-2 lead in the seventh. The Maroons then tied it up in the ninth on a Danny Ferguson pinch hit single before ultimately falling in the 11th inning.  

  • Thomas Burgess tossed his longest outing of the season so far, pitching 6.2 innings in his start. His allowed just one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out three. 

  • Liam Murphy was the only Maroon to register multiple hits with two. 

  • Hunter von Zelowitz made his first appearance of the season, pinch hitting in the ninth and staying in at second base for the rest of the game.

Game 2 Notes and Notables 

  • The sides went punch for punch through the first five innings, but RMC finally got to Roanoke and RC couldn't find a response. 

  • Ferguson had a few firsts in the game, tallying his first career stolen base and first career triple. He actually tallied two triples and scored three runs for this third multi-run game in just six games. 

  • Jack Fehlner had a multi-RBI game after driving in a pair with a double down the left field line in the fifth.
