How It Happened

  • It was a low scoring first quarter that saw St. Mary's tally the first two goals. Roanoke responded with three goals of their own though in the last two and a half minutes of play in the period.

  • After nobody scoring in the first few minutes of the second, RC went on a five-goal run to go up 8-2. SMCM then scored, which Roanoke answered with two more goals to go into halftime with a 10-3 advantage.

  • The squads exchanged goals for much of the third, but the Maroons ended the period with two goals to widen the gap to 15-7.

  • RC tallied three more goals in the first five minutes of the fourth. The Seahawks added two of their own shortly after, however Roanoke had already done their damage. No more scoring occurred in the final five minutes, giving the Maroons their second win of the year.

  • Raegan Becker led in goals with her career high five in the game.

  • Zoe Blair and Grace Koutouzis were right behind Becker with four tallies each. Blair notably went a perfect 4-4 in shots on the day.

  • Koutouzis topped the squad in points with a career high of nine thanks to her five assists, also a new career high.

  • Blair followed up Koutouzis' points tally with seven of her own as she added three helpers to her four goals. Blair's point tally is also a new career mark for the sophomore.

  • Maddie McDonald was the fourth multi-goal scorer on the afternoon, with three goals of her own. McDonald also had an assist, seven draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers in her stat line.

  • Liza Fergusson got in on the career high fun with a team leading six caused turnovers and three ground balls.
