FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Roanoke College baseball team won their season opener for the first time since 2021 with a 4-3 extra inning victory over Methodist. 

The win is the first of head coach Brett Kaminski's career as a Maroon.

How It Happened 

• Methodist got out to a 2-0 lead after scoring in the fourth and fifth innings. 

• Roanoke answered back in the sixth though as Parker Stallard homered and Hayden Giordano scored on a passed ball. 

• Nate Prince added one more for the Maroons in the seventh after stealing third and then advancing home on an errant throw. 

• The Monarchs scored in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings. 

• Prince then led off the eleventh with a double and was eventually driven in by Stallard to give RC the 4-3 advantage. Issac Brooks then closed the door on the Monarchs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory. 
   

Notes and Notables 

• Parker Stallard led the charge offensively with two RBIs in a 2-6 day, which included the team's first homer of 2025. 

• Nate Prince also heavily contributed, recording two runs, a double, a stolen base, and three hit by pitches. 

• Isaac Brooks got the win after pitching two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and recording a strikeout. 

• Corey Coogan tallied three walks in the game. 

• Trevor Orth got the call to start on opening day. He tossed five innings and only allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while striking our four. 

• Thomas Burgess came in to relieve, pitching four innings of one run ball. He allowed only four hits and struck out two.

Roanoke is back at it against Methodist tomorrow (Feb. 9) with a 1:00 pm first pitch to wrap up opening weekend.
