Noble and Mendoza have big defensive games in 3-1 win over EMU

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College men's volleyball took down Eastern Mennonite in ODAC play on Tuesday night 3-1 thanks in part to big defensive showings from Kaeden Noble and Colin Mendoza

How It Happened 

  • It was even for five points of the first set before Roanoke started to pull ahead. Eastern Mennonite then tied it up at 20 all before RC took charge to win the set 25-21. 

  • The Maroons started to build their advantage from the start in set two to take a firm grasp of the lead and go on to take the set 25-19. 

  • Set three was a tight affair with the teams being either tied or within two points of each other for most of the time. Eastern Mennonite came out on top though, 25-23. 

  • It was more of the same in the fourth as the sides knotted it up at 24. They tied again at 26 and 27 before Roanoke finished off the match 29-27. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Kaeden Noble had a season high 18 digs in the match to surpass the 600 mark in the category. He now sits at 611 digs in his career. 

  • Colin Mendoza had a career high 10 block assists and added a solo block for 11 total blocks in the game. His block assist and total blocks marks are new program single game records. 

  • Cade Kinne had a career high 13 kills in the match. 

  • Michael Cummins the only other Maroon to hit double figure digs, with his 11. 

Up Next  
Roanoke heads to Virginia Beach this weekend to take on Regent (Feb. 28) and Virginia Wesleyan (Mar. 1). Friday's game against Regent is scheduled for a 5:00 pm first serve.
