NORFOLK, Va. - The Roanoke College men's volleyball team kicked off their weekend road trip to the Virginia Beach area on a high with a 3-0 win over Regent.

How It Happened 

• RC took the looked to be in control at the beginning of the first set, but Regent came back to tie it midway through. It stayed tied for most of the set after that, but Roanoke broke through in the end, using a three and four point run to take it 25-20. 

• After the sides traded point runs in the beginning of the second, the Maroons eventually pulled ahead. They went on to win the set 25-17. 

• RC kept a decent distance from Regent for the first half of the set before the Royals made it tight yet again. The squads would trade points for the rest of the set until Roanoke finally ended it at 29-27 on a Connor Tyson service ace. 

Notes and Notables 

• Jackson Rutkowski led the kills category with 12 in the match. Michael Cummins was right behind him with 11. 

• Gabe Fabbro and Teagan Cole split setting duties with Fabbro posting 15 assists and Cole 12. 

• Kaeden Noble topped the digs category with 8. Cole followed that up with six digs while CJ Kingston and Cummins had five each. 

• Colin Mendoza posted a team leading .462 hitting percentage while recording eight kills. 

• Mendoza also led in blocks with three, two solo and one assist.
