Records: Roanoke (1-0), Kenyon (1-1)

How It Happened

  • The Maroons started the season in a hurry, scoring three goals in the first five minutes of play. After allowing one, RC tallied another hat trick before the period ended at 6-2.

  • It was much of the same in the second quarter as the defensive continued to lock it down and the offense kept rolling. Roanoke outscored Kenyon 5-1 in the second to bring the score to 11-3 before the half.

  • The squads exchanged goals for the first ten minutes of the third before RC ended the quarter on a 4-0 to increase their advantage to 17-6.

  • Even though Kenyon had a 4-2 scoring advantage in the fourth it wasn't enough to surpass the lead the Maroons had built, making the final score 19-10.

Notes and Notables

  • Grace Koutouzis picked up right where she left off last season, leading the team with seven points on five goals and two assists.

  • Maddie McDonald and Zoe Blair were right behind Koutouzis with four points each. McDonald tallied four goals and Blair had three goals and an assist.

  • Raegan Becker also tallied a hat trick on the afternoon, the second of her career.

  • Harrison also racked up a team high three ground balls and had five draw controls.

  • Jordan Wheeler topped the squad in draw controls with nine, a new career high for the sophomore.

  • McDonald tallied the second highest draw control total of her career with seven in the game.

  • Sophomore Kendall Todd put together a solid day in her first career start. She tallied eight saves and two ground balls in cage for the Maroons.

  • Roanoke led in shots, 30-23, and draw controls, 21-11, while Kenyon had the advantage in ground balls 14-10.
