The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season with a 12-10 victory over the University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon. The contest was played in a heavy downpour with large pools of water on the field.   
 
How it happened:
*Luke Kammerman netted the season's first goal just 17 seconds into play.
*Following two UMW tallies, the Maroons posted six of the next seven goals to open a 7-3 lead.
*The Eagles rallied to tie the game 8-8 early in the third period, but three-straight Maroon goals pushed the lead back to three.
 
Inside the numbers:
*Luca Docking had a hat trick and added an assist.
*Clayton Bewick also scored three goals.
*Wyatt Whitlow netted two scores and Julian Kammerman had a goal and an assist.
*Noah Bell and Jack Savoie also scored for Roanoke.
*Jake Brader won 11-of-19 faceoffs and controlled a team-high seven ground balls.
*Julian Kammerman and Logan O'Sullivan each had three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
*Alex Feuer made 12 saves in net.
*Carter Lynch and Henry Moag each found the back of the net twice for Mary Washington (1-2).
