Joshua McClary scored a game-high 23 points in just 19 minutes Thursday evening as the Maroon men's basketball team rolled to an 84-57 win at Washington & Lee University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
It was RC's last regular-season road contest of the year. Roanoke improves to 18-4 and 12-2 in ODAC play.
How it happened:
*Roanoke started quick, opening a 13-2 lead in the game's first five minutes with eight points from McClary.
*The Generals cut the advantage to 27-24 with seven minutes left in the half but the Maroons closed on a 17-4 run to assume a 44-28 lead at intermission.
*Roanoke quickly pushed the lead to 55-30 with an 11-2 surge to start the second half and led by more than 20 the rest of the way.
Inside the numbers:
*McClary shot 9-of-14 from the floor and added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
*
Marcus Morgan hit 7-of-9 to finish with 17 points and five rebounds.
*
Jackson Bell netted 14 points while
Clayton Gaither netted 12.
*A total of 10 Maroons got in the scoring column, with
Caleb Franze posting six points.
*Connor Amorosi scored 14 points for the Generals (6-16/4-9).
*Roanoke shot 56.1 percent (32-57) overall and 43.5 (10-23) from three-point range.
