Men's volleyball sweeps in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Roanoke College women's volleyball squad won six straight sets to take home two match victories on Saturday. 
 
Game 1 Information 
Roanoke 3, Warren Wilson 0 
Records: Roanoke (6-3, 0-0), Warren Wilson (0-4,0-0) 
Location: Asheville, N.C. (T.C. Roberson High School) 

Game 1 Notes and Notables 

  • The Maroons were in control from start to finish in the match, winning three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-7 to take the victory. 

  • RC notably had 22 service aces in the match. Davion Bowie led the way with five while Jackson Rutkowski, Teagan Cole, and Connor Tyson all added four apiece. I was the first time this season Roanoke hit double-digits in service aces this season, recording 22 total.

  • Micheal Cummins tallied six kills in the contest. Pierce Faulcon backed him up with five. 

  • Cole topped the team in assists with 13. Gabe Fabbro was right behind him with 11. 

  • Kaeden Noble, Rutkowski, and Bowie all recorded four receptions with Noble also leading the way in digs with four.

Game 2 Notes and Notables 

  • Micheal Cummins topped the team in kills again with nine in the match. 

  • CJ Kingston hopped on the service ace party from Game 1, totaling four in the game. 

  • Kaeden Noble, Jackson Rutkowski, and Cummins all reached double digit receptions. Noble led with 13 while Cummins had 12 and Rutkowski tallied 10. 

  • Colin Mendoza added three more blocks to his season total.

Roanoke is set to compete in their first ever ODAC matchup on Tuesday (Feb. 4) when they travel to Randolph for a 7:00 pm start.
