WINCHESTER, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team were overcome in conference play on Saturday by RV Shenandoah.

How It Happened 

• Roanoke struck first, but Shenandoah used a few scoring clusters to go up 21-14 after the first. 

• It was an evenly matched second quarter as both sides tallied 17 points to make it 38-31 at the break. 

• The Maroons were able to cut the deficit down to three, but Shenandoah found a rhythm and kept RC from getting any closer to taking the lead for the rest of the game. 
   

Notes and Notables 

• Junior Ashley Fowler recorded her first career double-double in the contest. She led the squad in rebounds with 14, 11 of which were defensive, and put up 12 points. Fowler's rebound total set a new career high for her in the category. 

• Paige Breuer was the leading scorer for Roanoke, posting 15 points. 

• Alicea Farmer and Cecilia Robinson were the next closest Maroons in rebounds with five each. 

• Farmer also added two blocks on the evening while Robinson had a career high eight points. 

• Fowler led the team in assists with four, which was also a new career high.

The Maroons will have a nine-day break before heading to the Jamie Lynn Roberts Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic hosted by Catholic University on Dec. 15-16. They open with the hosts on Monday at 2:00 pm before taking on Principia Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
