SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team held their ground against #18 Denison in the first half before falling to the Big Red in the final 20 minutes on Tuesday night.

How It Happened 

• It was an evenly fought first period with the lead changing hands five times between the sides. Denison had the last say in the quarter though, going up 21-18. 

• The Maroons remained calm and were able to even it up at 23 all before taking a lead that they would not relinquish until Denison made it 35-35 right before the half. 

• From there it was all Denison in the second half as RC couldn't quite find a rhythm or an answer to the Big Red's play inside the paint. 

Notes and Notables 

• The Maroons shot an impressive 51.7% in the first half, helping them stick with the Big Red through the first two quarters. 
   
• Alicea Farmer led Roanoke in scoring, tallying 16 points on the night. Ashley Fowler wasn't far behind with 13 in the contest. 

• Paige Breuer and Nadia Snesarev were the next closest Maroons in scoring with seven each. 

• Snesarev, Farmer, and Fowler were tied for the team high in rebounds with five a piece. 

• Juniors Ashley Fowler and Abigail Rice were named to the All-Tournament team. The honor is Fowler's third of the season and Rice's first.
