Maroons capture Cregger Invite title with 81-54 win over Wilkes

The Game Facts:

The Short story: Tournament MVP Jackson Bell scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Roanoke College men's basketball team to an 81-54 victory over Wilkes University Tuesday in the championship game of the 2025 Cregger Invitational.

Bell (pictured left with RC Senior Associate Athletic Director John Farmer) scored 20 in the first half and 10 in the second to break his previous high of 27 set earlier this season in a win against Salisbury University. He had 17 points and seven rebounds Monday in a first-round win tourney win over Husson University to total 47 points in the two victories.  Teammate Porter Stanley joined Bell on the All-Tournament Team with own career-high of 13 points to go with seven rebounds against Wilkes.

How it happened:
*After the game was tied at 10 all, Roanoke used a 16-3 run over the next four minutes to go ahead 26-13. The Maroons led by double figures the rest of the way.
*RC had a 50-32 lead at intermission and closed out the game's final 4:57 by not allowing a Wilkes field goal.

Inside the numbers:
*Bell sank 13 of his 20 shots with three steals; Porter made 6-of-10 attempts.
*Caleb Franze contributed 14 points and five rebounds.
*Patrick Clevenger had eight points and seven rebounds and Marcus Morgan contributed in several stat categories with five points, five rebounds and four steals.
*Lucas Lesko had a team-best 16 points and eight rebounds for the Colonels (6-4).  Eli Becker and Jack Argento earned spots on the all-tournament team.
 
Up Next:
*The Maroons (8-3) travel to Shenandoah University next Wednesday, Jan. 7 for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game at 5 p.m.
