The Short story: Junior forward Gavin O'Malley posted 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds Monday as the Roanoke College men's basketball team opened the Cregger Invitational with a 91-62 win over Husson University (Maine).

The Maroons will face Wilkes University, a 74-68 victor Monday over Gettysburg College, Tuesday at 2 p.m.

How it happened:
*Roanoke closed the first half with a 7-0 run, and led 53-37 at halftime.
*Husson trailed 75-59 with five minutes remaining in the game, but RC ended the contest on a 16-3 surge.

Inside the numbers:
*O'Malley grabbed 10 of his rebounds on the offensive end and converted on 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
*Jackson Bell contributed 17 points and seven boards and Marcus Morgan had 14 and five.
*Caleb Franze scored 11 points and Tyler Barnes also reached double figures with 10.
*Porter Stanley had seven points and Ryan Truitt chipped in six.
*Eric Ahlers compiled 23 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles (5-4).
*Roanoke enjoyed a 56-28 rebound advantage.
