How It Happened

  • RC took advantage of missed opportunities by the Colonels in the first quarter to jump out to a 10-0 lead in the first five minutes. Centre was able to bring the game within five points by the end of the quarter as Roanoke held their lead 15-9.

  • It was a closer affair in the second quarter as Centre was the first to strike around the six-minute mark. The Maroons came out of the quarter with their lead cut to one and the score going into the half at 24-23.

  • It was a back and forth third quarter with four lead changes. The squads moved into the final quarter all tied up at 44-44.

  • The sides bounced between leads for the first few minutes, but Centre eventually found an edge that they did not relinquish the rest of the game.

Notes and Notables

  • Ashley Fowler led the Maroons in scoring yet again, registering 14 points after shooting .500 from the field.

  • Mariah Cain also tallied double figures with 10 points in the game.

  • Staples grabbed eight rebounds for RC with Fowler following her up with seven.

  • Cain topped the squad in assists with five helpers on the afternoon.
