RALEIGH, N.C. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team grabbed their first win of the campaign as they defeated William Peace on Wednesday 76-62.

How It Happened 

• It was back and forth for the first 10 minutes as both sides settled into the game but Roanoke scored 10 points in the final three minutes to take a 20-16 into the second period. 

• The Maroons locked it down in the second quarter, outscoring William Peace 20-8 to make it 40-24 at the half. 

• RC kept it going in the second half, despite the Pacers' efforts in the fourth quarter to bring the game within arm's reach, to get their first win of the season. 
   

Notes and Notables 

• Junior Alicea Farmer led the way offensively with a career high 18 points. 

• Ashley Fowler and Paige Breuer also hit double digits, registering 15 and 10 points respectively.

• Fowler came up just shy of a double-double, adding a team leading eight rebounds on the night.

• Nadia Snesarev and Farmer weren't far behind Fowler with six rebounds each. 

• Snesarev and Breuer were dishing out the assists as Breuer ended the game with six helpers and Snesarev with five. 

• Caroline Donaldson and Farmer each recorded two blocks for RC. 

• Freshmen Moriah Tate, Laila Staples, OliviaJane Cahoon, Avery Tanis, and Cecilia Robinson all got their first taste of collegiate action in the game. 

Up Next 
The Maroons are set to open up their home slate this weekend as they host the Jean Beamer Tip-Off Classic. The squad will faceoff with Eastern at 6:00 pm on Saturday (Nov. 15) and Centre at 3:00 pm on Sunday (Nov. 16).
