SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College field hockey team put in a strong fight to keep #17 Shenandoah close but ultimately fell to the Hornets in ODAC play on Saturday.

How It Happened

Roanoke was not going down without a fight though. Against the run of play, RC was able to earn a penalty corner. After the ball shuffled around in the arc for a while, it fell to Savannah Bolte whose pass took a deflection and found Maddy Holmes. Holmes' shot then ricocheted off a Hornet stick, popping into the air, and into the back of the net to cut the deficit again.

RC has a break from action in the midweek before they round out their homestand next Saturday (Oct. 25) against Virginia Wesleyan at 12:00 pm. That game will also be their last home game of the regular season.
