Cain's double-double helps women's basketball to road win

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball took home an ODAC victory on the road for the first time this season with a 61-43 win over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.

How It Happened 

  • It was a back and forth first quarter with the lead changing three times but Roanoke coming out of it with a 14-12 lead at the end of the period. 

  • The Maroons began to pull away in the second thanks in part to holding EMU to just eight points. RC went into the half with a 29-20 advantage. 

  • RC shot an even 40% in the third to slowly build their lead into the double digits. 

  • Roanoke held steady in the fourth to finish the job and bring the score to its final, 61-43. 
     

Notes and Notables 

  • Mariah Cain posted her third career double-double on the afternoon, recording 15 points and 14 rebounds in the contest. 

  • Paige Breuer followed up Cain with 12 points of her own, all which came in the second half. 

  • Nadia Snesarev had a career high rebounding game, grabbing two offensive and six defensive boards. 

  • Snesarev also topped the team in steals with four. 

  • Roanoke took advantage of their free throw opportunities, going 18-23 at the line compared to EMU's 6-9 in the game. Peyton Kirchner and Ingrid Moraes went a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.
