SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team was able to hold the #16/#20 ranked Washington & Lee Generals close throughout the first half, but the Maroons ultimately ending up falling on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened 

• Roanoke scored the first points of the game after getting two defensive stops to start the game. While W&L built a small lead, the Maroons kept them within arm's reach. 

• RC kept working in the second holding the Generals' Mary Schleusner to just four points and five rebounds in the quarter. The Maroons shot 41.7% to Washington & Lee's 35.3% in the period. 

• Roanoke opened the quarter with five points to quickly reduce the deficit, but W&L slowly started to pull away as the quarter wore on. 

• The Maroons weren't quite able to get any runs going offensively in the fourth and eventually brought the score to final. 
   

Notes and Notables 

• The squad shot well from the free throw line, going 8-11. Roanoke is currently fourth in the ODAC in free throw percentage with an overall percentage of .656. 

• Freshman Paige Breuer led the team in scoring with 11 points, including going 5-5 from the charity stripe. 

• Ashley Fowler, Kiley Hylton, and Breuer all pulled down six rebounds in the game. 

• Alicea Farmer snagged three steals in the game. She is second on the team in the category with 26 on the year, just four behind Mariah Cain.
