The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's soccer team opened the 2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) slate Saturday with an 8-0 victory over visiting Sweet Briar College.

Lauren Fisher and Rebecca Carr each had two goals and an assist and Emily Moffitt contributed a goal and two assists.

How it happened:
*Roanoke got on the scoreboard at 28:20 on an own goal to go ahead 1-0.
*Fisher scored from Kacee Schmidt two minutes later, followed by an Ashlyn Berry tally from Natalia Cage.
*Schmidt scored from Fisher and RC went into halftime ahead 4-0.
*Moffitt assisted both Brooke Nicholson and Carr on tallies midway through the second half.
*Madalyn Szoke fed Carr at 73:34 and Moffitt found the back of the net from Carr to close out the scoring.

By the numbers:
*The Maroons held a 40-2 edge in shots and had a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
*Trista Cleaves made 19 saves for Sweet Briar.
*Grace Suchy and Victoria Correll each made one save in a half of play for Roanoke.
