The Short Story: The contest was scoreless for over 80 minutes, but both teams found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes as the Roanoke College women's soccer team tied Oglethorpe University 1-1 Sunday in non-conference action in Atlanta.
How it happened
*Roanoke controlled most of the action in the first half, outshooting the Stormy Petrels 11-4 with a 7-0 edge in shots on goal, but couldn't break through.
*The Maroons had a great scoring chance off a corner kick at 79:54, forcing keeper Grace Elsevier to make a leaping save, but sophomore
Irene Orndorff eventually arched the rebound into the top right-hand corner of the net for the game's first goal.
*RC was whistled for a foul in the box with 84:57 left and Mackenzie Jones converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1 all.

Brooke Nicholson had a chance at the game winner with just over two minutes to play, but Elsevier barely got a hand on the shot to keep the ball out of the net.
*The game was delayed for 30 minutes before the second half started by lightning.

*The Maroons held a 25-7 edge in shots, 16-2 in shots on goal and 7-3 in corner kicks.
*Elsevier and Katherine Crim combined for 15 saves for Oglethorpe.
