Maggie McCray tossed her first career no hitter Friday afternoon as the Roanoke College softball team defeated Guilford College 10-0 in five innings in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.
The Maroons are competing at Randolph-Macon College this weekend in one of two four-team pods in a double elimination format with the two surviving squads advancing to the finals next weekend. Roanoke is the No. 3 seed in the eight-team tournament while Guilford came in at No. 6. Virginia Wesleyan University is the other host site.
How it happened:
*The Maroons did all of their damage offensively in the first two innings.
Molly Epperson,
Kate Houle and
Madison Courts all hit RBI singles as part of a three-run first inning.
*Houle started the scoring in the second with an RBI double and
Lilly Burns brought two home with a triple.
Lauren Hoffman made it 7-0 after a single and
Ally Brown drilled a three-run home run to cap the scoring.
Inside the numbers:
*McCray issued four walks and struck out eight.

Heather McQueeney had a hit, a walk and a stolen base.

Sammie Murphy scored twice and Courts also drew a walk.
