The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team fell Thursday to Muskingum University 6-3 at Moravian University in the Maroons' first game of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
How it happened:
*The Muskies took advantage of four walks to plate five runs in the first inning.

Heather McQueeney and
Adriana Rivera led off the bottom of the first with walks and McQueeney came home on a single from
Kate Houle.
*Kalie Eshelman hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it a 6-1 game.
*McQueeney led off the sixth with another walk and Houle blasted a two-run home run to left field to cut the lead to 6-3.
Inside the numbers:
*Houle finished 2-3 and drove in all three Maroon runs.

Lilly Burns and
Jordyn DiFava each had hits and
Leah Butts also drew a walk.

Baylee Compton allowed just one run, four hits and no walks in her 6 1/3 innings out of the bullpen, striking out five.
*Madelyn Thomas earned the complete-game victory for the Muskies (29-13) with nine strikeouts.
