The Short story: The Roanoke College baseball team rallied all the way back from a 6-0 deficit Friday but fell 7-6 to defending national champion the University of Lynchburg in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Championship Series.

There are three teams remaining in the conference tournament and the Maroons face Shenandoah University Saturday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game with the winner moving on to play Lynchburg 30-60 minutes after the completion of the first contest.

How it happened:
*Quinn Madden homered as part of a six-run Hornet second inning.
*The Maroons fought back with four runs in the fourth. After loading the bases, Sam Scharville was hit by a pitch to bring a run in. Nate Prince hit an infield single to score a second run, Corey Coogan hit a sacrifice fly and Dylan Bonzon delivered a two-out RBI single.   
*Cayden Freels tied the game with a two-run double in the seventh inning.
*Madden homered again with one out in the top of the ninth to provide the winning run.

Inside the numbers:
*Prince had two hits and Bonzon also drew two walks.
*Kyle Moshier doubled and walked.
*Trevor Orth as outstanding in relief, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit, three walks while striking out five.
