The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team swept both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Sunday at Randolph College, 3-1 and 3-2.
The Maroons got outstanding pitching as Maggie McCray and Lindsay Gedro allowed just three runs and eight hits on the afternoon, a day after Gedro and Baylee Compton limited Sweet Briar College to two runs in a doubleheader split.

How it happened:
*Kate Houle put Roanoke ahead 1-0 with a sacrifice fly in the first inning of the opener, but the Wildcats tied it 1-1 in the fourth.
*Houle drilled a solo home run to centerfield in the sixth and the Maroons added another insurance run later in the inning.
*Madison Courts singled in a run in the first but Randolph took a 2-1 lead with runs in the first and third innings of game two.
*Shaniya Lewis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth to tie the game and Molly Epperson followed with a single to bring home the winning run. Gedro got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*McCray gave up three hits, three walks and one earned run with eight strikeouts for the victory.
*Epperson was 3-3 and Morgan Clark had two hits.
*Lilly Burns had a hit and a walk.
*Dominque Irving was 2-2 with a triple, a run and a walk for the Wildcats.

Inside the numbers (Game 2):

*Sammie Murphy was 2-2 and Heather McQueeney had a hit and a walk.
*Gedro allowed five hits, two walks and one earned run with four strikeouts.
*Irving had a hit and a walk for Randolph.
