The Lead: The Roanoke women's track & field team competed in a field loaded with Division I and Division II competitors at High Point.
Meet Highlights:
- The 4x100 relay team of Mikayla Hefferon, Lindsey Hobin, Ophelia Ladner and Haylee Gamble placed fifth overall with a time of 47.90 seconds.
- Kaitlyn Nguyen finished ninth overall and first among Division III athletes in group A of the high jump, logging a mark of 1.60m.
- Three Maroons landed in the Top 20 in the 3,000m steeplechase: Vendela Svaerd was 11th overall with a time of 12:04.67, followed by Susanna Price in 15th (12:28.36) and Savannah Reid in 17th (12:53.47). Svaerd's mark currently ranks fifth in the ODAC, with Price's good for ninth in the standings.
- Ophelia Ladner came in 14th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.79, which puts her in fourth place in the conference.
- Grace Fowler placed 23rd in the shot put at 12.37m, currently the second-best mark in the ODAC this spring.
- Sarah Fuchs finished 33rd overall in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.18m.
- Svaerd, Ladner, Fowler and Fuchs all posted the second-best marks among Division III competitors in their respective events.
- Several Maroons also had success in the participate flights. Cammi Winston placed eighth in the 400m hurdles at 1:15.06.
- Olivia Viers finished ninth in this division of the 100m hurdles, logging a time of 15.32 seconds that ranks sixth in the ODAC. She was trailed closely by Rebecca Carr in 10th (15.39) and Winston in 11th (15.49).
- Roanoke placed four athletes in the Top 20 of the participate 400m. Gamble placed 12th in 1:01.33, followed by Hobin in 14th (1:01.51), Maryrose Molina-Shuman in 15th (1:01.77) and Hefferon in 19th (1:02.39).
- Gamble came in 18th in this branch of the 200m. Her time of 25.50 seconds is currently good for second place in the conference table.
- Nalonda Henderson was the 20th-place finisher in her flight of the 100m, clocking a time of 12.63 seconds.
- Svaerd landed in 20th in the participate flight of the 800m, completing the race in 2:31.49.
