The Lead: Ophelia Ladner placed 12th overall in the 400m hurdles in her national championship debut in Ohio.

- Ladner clocked in at 1:02.65 in the preliminary rounds of the 400m hurdles. Coming in as the 22nd overall seed, she placed fifth in her heat and 12th overall in the field of 22 athletes.
- Ladner's 12th-place finish earns her Second Team All-America honors.
- The top nine runners advanced to Saturday's championship race. Ren Brown of the University of Chicago posted the fastest time in the prelims, winning her heat in 59.67 seconds.
