The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team successfully concluded the 2024 regular season with an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) sweep of visiting Guilford College, 3-1 and 1-0.
How it happened (Game 1):
*The Quakers scored an unearned run in the top of the first and
Sammie Murphy tied the game in the third with an RBI single.
*The Maroons took advantage of two Quaker errors in the fifth to score twice.
Heather McQueeney had an RBI single and
Molly Epperson brought a runner home with a groundout.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):

Maggie McCray threw a complete-game three-hitter, allowing just one unearned run and one walk while striking out 10.

How it happened (Game 2)
*After two scoreless innings, the Maroons got on the board in the third.
Heather McQueeney was hit by a pitch with two outs, stole second and scored on a
Jordyn DiFava single.
*The Quakers loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Roanoke starter
Lindsay Gedro induced a groundout to earn the complete-game victory.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*Gedro allowed just four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
*Taylor Mitchell pitched a gem for the Quakers (18-22/10-12), giving up just three hits with no walks.
