The Lead: Brady Fowler set new meet records in both the 100m and 200m, while
Jared McIntyre finished as the runner-up in the high jump as the Roanoke men's track & field team competed on day one of the conference outdoor meet at Bridgewater.
Day One Highlights:
- McIntyre posted a mark of 1.90m to finish as the runner-up in the high jump, garnering All-ODAC laurels.
- Fowler established new conference championship records in both the 100m (10.46 seconds) and 200m (21.29), finishing first in the preliminary rounds of both events and advancing to Saturday's finals.
- Jim Sarsfield scored for the Maroons in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a distance of 45.27m.
- Matt Garis also earned points for Roanoke in the 10,000m, clocking a personal record of 31:52.43 to place seventh overall.
- A pair of Maroons qualified for the finals of the 110m hurdles. Daniel Graham finished third in the prelims with a time of 15.55 seconds, and Davis Neel landed in fifth place in 16.14 seconds.
- Elijah Bolich and Joseph Eldridge will join Fowler in both the 100m and 200m finals. In the prelims of the 200, Bolich placed fourth in 21.90 seconds, while Eldridge came in sixth in 22.13. Bolich (10.88 seconds) and Eldridge (10.94) also finished sixth and seventh in the preliminary heats of the 100.
- In the team standings, Roanoke currently holds the sixth-place spot with 15 points. Washington and Lee sits in first place with 64 points.
