The Lead:Â For the final time this regular season the Roanoke baseball team was at home when they welcomed Pfeiffer to Salem for a Wednesday afternoon, non-conference, matchup. The game would see the two teams combine to leave 34 runners on base in a 9-5 Falcons victory.
Highlights:
- Roanoke found themselves down 2-1 in the second inning. Jack Fehlner doubled followed by an Eddie Kaufman single to tie the game at 2-2. The Maroons retook the lead with Dylan Bonzon base hit up the middle.
- A Ben Barnes two-run home run put the Falcons back in front 5-3.
- Joe Javier hit a two-run double to push the Falcons lead to four.
- Hayden Giordano doubled to deep left to plate Brae Ferrell and cut the deficit to 9-5. The Maroons would load the bases in the bottom of the ninth, however, the Falcons recorded three consecutive outs to finish the game.
- Bonzon, Fehlner, and Giordano each had two hits and combined for three runs, two RBI, and three stolen bases.
Up next:Â Roanoke closes the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Ashland to face the first place Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in a season ending double header.
