Kammerman Sets ODAC Assist Record as Maroons Overpower Jackets

THE GAME FACTS
Score: Roanoke 20, Randolph-Macon 7
Location: Salem, Va.

The Short Story: Luke Kammerman broke the conference's career assist mark as No. 20 Roanoke cruised past Randolph-Macon 20-7 on Senior Day at Kerr Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Yellow Jackets took an early 2-1 lead on a long-range goal from Mike Allen at the 11:59 mark of the first quarter.
  • But Roanoke locked in from there, scoring the next six goals and assuming a 7-2 advantage on a Julian Kammerman tally at the 11:23 mark of the second period. The goal was assisted by his brother, Luke, marking the 171st assist of the elder Kammerman's career. That eclipsed the previous ODAC record held by R-MC's Paul Tomick, who compiled 170 assists between 1990-93.
  • After JT Harvey ended the Jackets' drought with 8:57 to play in the first half, the Maroons responded with three straight markers – including two goals from Patrick Cullen – to go ahead 10-3. RC would take a 10-4 edge into halftime.
  • The Roanoke defense was dominant after the break, holding R-MC off the board until the final 6:30 of the game. The Maroons outscored the Jackets 6-0 in the third quarter and also tallied the first three goals of the final frame to put the contest out of reach.
