The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team was swept Tuesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader at the University of Lynchburg, 2-0 and 7-5.
The losses snapped a seven-game Maroon winning streak.
How it happened (Game 1):
*Roanoke loaded the bases in first inning but could not bring in a run and had two runners reach base in the second.
*Lynchburg scored single runs in the first and third innings.
*The Maroons again loaded the bases in the sixth inning, this time with no outs. Winning pitcher Kailey Dorcsis got out of the jam unscathed, retiring the next three batters.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):

Heather McQueeney had two hits, including a double.

Maggie McCray struck out seven over her six innings in the circle, allowing six hits, two walks and two earned runs.
*Dorcsis earned the victory with a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Â
How it happened (Game 2)
*Roanoke took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a groundout and a
Kate Houle RBI double. Lynchburg plated four in the bottom of the first inning.

Madison Courts hit a two-RBI triple in the third and scored on a throwing error on the play to put RC back ahead 5-4.
*The Hornets tied the game in the third and plated two in the fourth to end the scoring. Â Roanoke threatened with two on and two out in the sixth but Courts lined out.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*Houle had two hits and McQueeney had a hit, two walks and a stolen base.

Sammie Murphy had a hit and a walk.

Grace Clary tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
*Alyssa Talayumptewa had two hits and three RBI for the Hornets (25-8/13-5 ODAC).
