The Short Story: The 14th-ranked Maroons coasted to a 22-5 victory over Guilford at Kerr Stadium, improving to 5-1 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Roanoke kicked off the game with a 4-0 run, getting two goals and one assist from Kate Loughran during that stretch to take the early lead.
  • Following a Maggie Hartnett goal for the Quakers, the Maroons reeled off six consecutive tallies – including back-to-back player-down scores from Tiernan Connor and Libby Bowman – to take a 10-1 advantage by the 9:41 mark of the second period. RC would hold a 14-2 edge by halftime.
  • Hartnett grabbed the opening goal of the second half, but the Maroons responded with six more unanswered markers, cruising on to their fifth ODAC victory of the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Bowman paced Roanoke with six points, totaling one goal and five assists. Four other Maroons notched five points in the contest: Grace Koutouzis had four goals and one assist, Loughran finished with three goals and two helpers, Sarah Brisson had two markers and three assists and Connor recorded one goal and four assists.
  • Raegan Becker and Zoe Blair scored two goals apiece, while Maddie McDonald added one goal and one assist.
  • Sophia Chickering tied her career-high with 17 draw controls, helping the Maroons to an overall 24-4 advantage on the circle, and the All-ODAC midfielder also notched her third career goal.
  • Hartnett netted two goals and one assist for Guilford, and Zenna Carson made 16 saves.
