The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team took early control Saturday and breezed to a 78-54 victory over the University of Lynchburg in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.  

How it happened:
*Roanoke held the Hornets scoreless for the first 4:46 of the game and opened an 8-0 lead. The advantage remained around double figures for the rest of the half and Zach Rosenthal drilled a three-pointer to put RC ahead 32-20 at intermission. The Maroons forced the Hornets into shooting just 27 percent (7-26) over the first 20 minutes.  
*The Maroon defense again kept Lynchburg off the scoreboard for the first portion of the second half, this time for over four minutes. Roanoke built a 41-20 lead during that time and led by 20 or more points the final 8:31.

Inside the numbers:
*Joshua McClary totaled a game-high 17 points with six assists and three steals.
*Marcus Morgan contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds and Rosenthal finished with 14 points.
*Freshman Colin Fayed took advantage of his first collegiate start to post 13 points, fueled by three three-pointers.
*Justin Kuthan had 11 points and eight rebounds while frontcourt mate Joshua Morse had eight points.
*Deondre Ross paced Lynchburg (10-12/5-8 ODAC) with 10 points.
