The Short Story: The Maroons opened the spring season in women's tennis with a convincing win over the Avenging Angels on the road.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Roanoke grabbed a 3-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. Halle Fernstrum and Bella Gustafson topped Hannah Higgins and Claire Southern 8-5 at No. 1, Lia Streibich and Victoria Rios bested Ellie Phillips and Ellie Osborne 8-3 at the second spot, and Camryn Breedlove and Julia Bassett secured an 8-3 victory over Ryann Jennings and Hannah Jo Jablonski at No. 3
• The Maroons proceeded to win five of the six singles matches, helmed by a runaway victory (6-1, 6-0) for Streibich over Higgins in the top flight.
• Elsewhere, Gustafson beat Southern 7-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Bassett rolled past Jennings 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, Rios won 6-3, 6-2 over Phillips and No. 5, and Zane Maiden delivered a 6-0, 6-3 win over Jablonski at No. 6.
• Meredith's lone point in the match came at No. 2 singles, where Osborne outlasted Fernstrum by a count of 7-6, 1-6, 10-8.
