The Basics
Score: Roanoke 3, Oglethorpe 7
Records: Maroons 1-3, Stormy Petrels 4-3
Location: Atlanta, Ga.
The Lead: The Roanoke baseball traveled to Atlanta for a trio of games this weekend. In game one, Oglethorpe used four early runs to take control and hold on for the 7-3 win. In game two, the Maroons would face Maryville for the third time this season. RC scored first but the Scots would rally to take a 4-2 edge. The lead would go back and forth until a three run seventh put the Maroons in front to stay as they picked up the 9-7 win over Maryville.
Highlights:
  • Oglethorpe used a triple and pair of base hits to take a 4-0 lead after two innings of play.
  • In the top of the fourth, Nate Prince got the Maroons on the board with an RBI double. Tucker Schiavoni drew a bases loaded walk to make it 4-2 and after a Stormy Petrel balk the deficit would be cut to a single run.
  • Oglethorpe re-established the momentum with two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to take the opener 7-3.
  • Prince finished 1-2 with a run and an RBI as Roanoke would record just three hits. Jackson Murphy got the start going six innings giving up seven hits and six runs.
