The Short story: It took the Roanoke College men's basketball team just six minutes to open a 15-point lead Wednesday and the Maroons cruised to a 98-64 win over visiting Washington & Lee University to open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
The Maroons shot 60 percent from the field (37-61) and 50 percent (9-18) from behind the three-point line.
How it happened:
*Senior guard
Joshua McClary scored 12 points to push the Maroons to a 20-5 lead just six minutes into the game.
*RC led by double figures the rest of the way and had a 43-23 advantage at halftime, holding W&L to just 28 percent (9-32) shooting in the first 20 minutes.
*Roanoke scored the first five points after intermission to extinguish hopes of a General comeback.

Marcus Morgan scored a game-high 21 points and finished with seven rebounds and three assists.

Clayton Gaither shot 8-10 from the floor for 20 points and five rebounds.
*McClary had a full stat line of 16 points with game highs in rebounds (9), assists (7) and steals (3).

Jackson Bell scored 17 points and
Gavin O'Malley contributed six points and five rebounds.
